Student Advisory Board
The Student Advisory Board (SAB) is comprised of staff from Student Counseling Services (SCS) and students from the various colleges of OUHSC in OKC. The goal of the SAB is to provide an avenue for SCS to find out the needs of the students and for the students in turn, to be informed of services available to them. By having students represented from the various colleges, SCS can get a sense of what concerns are most pressing for the different colleges and how we can be most helpful.
The SAB is also expected to facilitate Student Counseling Services outreach efforts that are designed to increase awareness of a variety of issues such as Sexual Assault Awareness Week and De-Stress Fest.
The SAB meets each month on the noon hour and lunch is provided. Meetings last for one hour and at the end of the semester, students are eligible for a small scholarship in return for their involvement and contribution to the organization.
To find out more about the SAB please email: email@example.com or call us at 271-7336.

Sexual Assault Awareness Week (SAAW)
One week each September brings an annual opportunity to focus awareness on sexual violence and its prevention. It is also an opportunity to highlight the efforts of individuals and agencies that provide rape crisis intervention and prevention services while offering support to sexual assault survivors and their families. SAAW raises awareness of sexual violence and its prevention through special events while highlighting sexual violence as a major public health issue and reinforces the need for prevention efforts.
The SAAW Committee arranges for various events that occur throughout the week in November that culminates in a Take Back the Night march on Friday.
Each year in April Student Counseling Services hosts the Annual DeStress Fest. The purpose of this event is to encourage and provide our student community with the opportunity to find exciting ways to alleviate and cope with stress as you pursue your academic and career goals.
Numerous local businesses that specialize in stress-relieving products and services (massages, aromatherapy, manicure/pedicure, music, entertainment, etc.) have the opportunity to market their products and services to you and we also have a variety of fun activities and arts and crafts tables to get involved in. Various local businesses providing food and beverages will also be present and there are always lots of giveaways at this event.
If you are interested in either volunteering to help with DeStress fest (and get a free t-shirt) or just would like more information, please feel free to contact Student Counseling Services by e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or phone (405) 271-7336.
If you are faculty or staff and are interested in giving away door prizes to this event, please call or email us at above information. Any assistance you can provide will help make this event a success and will be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your consideration.
