00:00 | There are thousands of students at the University of Oklahoma
Health Sciences Center, each with their own unique story. And
with seven health care colleges all on one campus and more
than 70 programs offered, each student’s story might be
headed in a different direction – but this is where they
00:17 | OUHSC is a leading comprehensive health care education
campus, with students from every field studying shoulder to
shoulder and learning together.
00:25 | So on our campus, you will have lots of chances to add to your
story – not only because of our integrated approach, but also
because of our volunteer opportunities, student organizations,
intramural sports and events.
00:38 | We want you to have a fulfilling experience in your time on our
00:42 | So at OUHSC, we put U at the center.
00:48 | This is first-year pharmacy student Jevon Oliver.
Like most students, Jevon sometimes likes to spend time with
his friends from class off-campus. They take advantage of
being in downtown Oklahoma City and visit places like
Bricktown, the Plaza District, Midtown and the Paseo.
01:04 | But Jevon also goes out of his way to be a student leader
within the Student Government Association and volunteer
around the community with organizations like The Big Event.
01:13 | And this is first-year College of Medicine student Kenton
01:16 | He’s a goal-oriented kind of guy.
01:18 | And he was a member of the executive committee for The Big
Event in 2013 – see the connection?
01:25 | He likes that the university offers opportunities to be involved
outside of the classroom. One goal he set was to be a leader in
student organizations. So he became president of the firstyear
students in the College of Medicine in 2012.
01:38 | Another goal he set when he came to OUHSC was to have fun
and relax, in addition to his studies. So, he helps represent the
College of Medicine in intramural soccer.
01:47 | After all, he is “goal”-oriented.
01:51 | And this is third-year allied health student Kathryn Harris.
01:54 | She’s involved with about 13 organizations, clubs and
volunteer groups around the campus and community –
including organizing schedules and keeping score for
02:03 | But in 2012, she was sidelined in a different way when she had
02:09 | She was worried about getting around and having time for
work, school and all of her extracurriculars. But, luckily for
her, she’s in the physical therapy program, and her professors
and classmates took an interest in her recovery as well as
being accommodating and kind.
02:23 | And this is the student union. It’s where a lot of OUHSC
students’ stories intertwine.
02:29 | Every student, professor and staff member at OUHSC comes
here to add to their story.
02:36 | And we’re proud that OUHSC can be part of that.
02:40 | The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. We put U at the center.
