HSC Summer Immersion Program (HSC-SIP)
The mission of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Summer Immersion Program (HSC-SIP) is to assist visiting sophomore college students in a successful academic, social, and personal transition to their academic/ professional careers. The program fosters the comprehensive development of OU Norman campus, Langston University and the University of Central Oklahoma pre-health students and substantially increases retention efforts in the health sciences.
The HSC Summer Immersion Program provides an opportunity for 30 future health professionals to immerse themselves in the OUHSC’s healthcare training environment. Program objectives ensure participants take away tangible knowledge and skills, including discovering possible academic programs and tools to manage the associated academic rigor. Participants are selected from academic programs that traditionally matriculate students to health professional programs. HSC-SIP focus on strategies for a successful application to the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. As a result, program participants are anticipated to report increased understanding of academic and professional expectations for healthcare education.
