HSC Student Affairs Partners with Optimal Resume

HSC Student Affairs is excited to announce that we've partnered with OptimalResume.com to bring you state-of-the-art online career technology.

As soon as you create you Optimal account, you'll be able to create career materials, practice for interviews and take skills assessments through a single, easy-to-use portal. You'll also be able to turn your career documents into a professional website, which is imperative for today's job search. Because the program is web-based, you'll be able to access it from any computer, any time.

We want you to have the tools necessary for today's competitive job market, and we think Optimal Resume will give you an edge. It's essential that you begin using these tools as early in your career as possible, so please visit  https://ouhsc.optimalresume.com/  and click "Create New Account." Follow the instructions there to be validated and then create your account.

Once you're registered, you'll have access to all these modules: 

• Resume Builder + GPS - Select from dozens of templates and samples to create and customize your professional resume, then place it into an employer-searchable database to have job and internship opportunities delivered to you.

• Website Builder - Create a confidential website that features your resume and other materials (files, letters) to share with potential employers.

• Letter Builder - Browse letter samples and templates to construct a letter for every professional situation.

Feeding Hope Food Drive

Through Friday, May 25

The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center is teaming up with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma in support of the 2012 Feeding Hope and Letter Carriers Food Drive.

The goal of the Feeding Hope and Letter Carriers Food Drive, which runs through May 25th, is to raise more than $1 million and 1 million pounds of food.  This is a month-long, community-wide fundraiser and food drive designed to promote the involvement of nearly every segment of the community in feeding the hungry by raising shelf-stable food, monetary donations and awareness of the hunger issue in Oklahoma. 

If you would like to participate by donating items, Regional Food Bank collection boxes are located in the following buildings:

  • Service Center Building, First Floor and Staff Senate Office
  • Basic Sciences Education Building, Lobby
  • College of Dentistry, Room 510
  • College of Allied Health, Room 1009
  • College of Pharmacy, Room 105 
  • College of Nursing, First Floor
  • College of Public Health, First Floor
  • Robert M. Bird Library, Circulation Desk
  • David L. Boren Student Union, First Floor

2012 Women’s Summit - Wise Choices: Solutions for Obesity and Diabetes in Women

The Oklahoma Commission on the Status of Women will host the 2012 Women’s Summit at the Tulsa Warren Doubletree Hotel – Warren Place on May 17, 2012.

The event titled, Wise Choices: Solutions for Obesity and Diabetes in Women, will begin at 9:00 a.m. 

The Summit is to elevate awareness and educate women on the health risks, challenges, and decisions concerning the well-being of their families.  A forum of community and state leaders, as well as medical professionals, will discuss the specific issues affecting women in Oklahoma.  The goal for this event is to formulate recommendations to stimulate changes in state policy and create initiatives to benefit women statewide.

2012 Student Football Season Ticket Sale Info

Through May 18 (or until sold out)

It’s that time again!  Full time Students registered in Spring 2012 will be able to purchase student season tickets for 2012-13 beginning Monday, April 23.  This sale will conclude when all tickets are sold or on May 18, whichever comes first. New this year we will offer a combo pack that includes football and men’s basketball.  Students will also be able to buy football and basketball separately if they wish.  See the 2012 Student Ticket Policy and the 2012 Student Season Ticket Application. Turn in your Ticket Application at the HSC Student Affairs office in Suite 300 of the David L. Boren Student Union.

Type 1 Diabetes Research Study

Have you or someone you know recently been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes?

• Are you 20 to 45 years old?

• Were you diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes within the past five months?

• Have you been on insulin since diagnosis?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may qualify to participate in a diabetes research study

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of an investigational medication on slowing or stopping the progression of type 1 diabetes

Benefits include a study-related physical exam, laboratory testing, and diabetes education.  Participants will also receive compensation for their time.
