What is Constitution Day?
Originally commissioned in 1940 as "I Am An American Day" and held on the third Sunday of May, this national holiday originally commemorated all who had recently become official U.S. citizens. Now held on September 17th, the rebranded Constitution and Citizenship Day, retains its original purpose and celebrates the signing of the Constitution this day in 1787.
