The HSC Sooner Standard aims to recognize HSC students who exceed expectations in the area of volunteerism. This achievement is in connection with the Oklahoma Standard, a statewide initiative to promote acts of service, honor, and kindness through the Oklahoma City National Memorial Museum. Throughout the school year, students are encouraged to log all hours spent volunteering to determine eligibility for the HSC Sooner Standard Award at graduation. HSC students who log over 50 hours in an academic year will qualify for a green cord at graduation, and those who log over 75 hours in an academic year will qualify for a blue cord at graduation.
