How to use the Writing Center

After making your one-hour appointment on WC Online, come to the office (Room 214 in the DLB Student Union) with two copies of your paper either paper or electronic. Or you can come to brainstorm ideas, talk about research, work on an outline, or practice a presentation; just do bring whatever materials you will need to support those activities. You will work one-to-one with Dr. Carter on anything concerning your writing. This will include reading aloud and lots of conversation about writing.

  • Register at ouhsc.mywconline.com
  • View calendar and select an appointment from available time slots (white blocks). (Note—same-day  appointments are not available)
  • Select “No –Meet Face-to-Face at the Center” from the “Meeting Online?” drop down box
  • Fill in appointment information and attach a document if you wish
  • Show up at the Writing Center at that day/time ready to work on your paper
  • We will spend the hour addressing your concerns
  • A Waiting List feature is also available if the appointment you desire is filled. A green block will denote a filled appointment slot; click on “The Waiting List” for the day, and request an email to be sent if this appointment opens up.

Be sure your machine has a camera and mic for online appointments. Internet access will also be required. This is a synchronous appointment, which means you will meet in the chat room at the same time as Dr. Carter.
