Practicum & LPC-c Opportunities

Student Counseling Services counsels a diverse and high-performing student population. The OU Harold Hamm Health Campus is one of only a few comprehensive health centers in the nation with seven health professional colleges.

As counselors to such dedicated students, we are honored to contribute to the quality of life for our nations’ future healthcare workforce and excited to have you join us in this mission.

A Unique Clinical Training Experience

Serve students from seven health professional colleges, including medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, public health, allied health, and graduate studies. Trainees work with a high-achieving student population while developing skills in a collaborative university counseling center environment.

Diverse Clinical Experiences

Work with healthcare students facing academic stress, adjustment concerns, anxiety, depression, identity development, relationships, and professional training challenges.

Evidence-Based Training

Develop skills using evidence-based approaches supported by experienced clinical supervisors.

Individual Supervision

Receive mentorship and support from licensed professionals committed to counselor development.

Professional Development Support

Access professional development funding for conferences, training opportunities, and continuing education.

Evidence-Based Clinical Training

Depending on supervisor expertise and availability, trainees may gain experience in:

  • ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy)
  • CBT for Trauma
  • CFT (Compassion-Focused Therapy)
  • EFT (Emotion-Focused Therapy)
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Unified Protocol

Assessment Training

Doctoral trainees may participate in psychological and psychoeducational assessment training. Assessment opportunities may also be available to master's-level trainees based on interest and supervisory availability.

Training Environment

Professional Development Funding

Funding is available to support conferences, group trainings, certifications, and educational resources.

Modern Clinical Systems

Access to both Titanium Schedule and MyOutcomes electronic systems.

Private Office Space

Dedicated office space equipped for both in-person and tele-mental health services.

Administrative Support

Support with scheduling and clinic operations so trainees can focus on clinical development.
