HSC1: First-Year Student Programs


The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center First-Year Student Programs (HSC1) provides first-year students an interdisciplinary experience through campus wide events and communication of student services.  HSC1 is designed to provide access to campus resources and connections for students new to campus.

Programs for 2016-2017

  • HSC1 Crimson and Ice Cream | Wednesday, August 24, 2016
    4:30 - 6:30 p.m. | David L. Boren Student Union, First floor   
    Welcome Back Crimson and Ice Cream Social. All first-year students are invited for ice-cream and mingling with the HSC community! This event is designed to welcome first-year students to the HSC family. Deans and administrators from each college will be in attendance along with HSC Crimson Club members to welcome you! Come for a FREE t-shirt and ice cream sundae after a long day in class.
  • Bevo BBQ & Involvement Fair | Wednesday, October 5, 2016  
    Noon | David L. Boren Student Union, 
    East Patio
    Kick off a great start to OU/Texas weekend with BBQ! Bring your friends and enjoy a FREE lunch,  yard games and an involvement fair! We have over 100 student organizations on campus so you will find something that fits you!
  • Global Thanksgiving | Thursday, November 17, 2016 
    Noon | David L. Boren Student Union, Room 262 
    Global Thanksgiving is partnering up with HSC Cousins! Come gather with your friends and classmates for a global Thanksgiving meal. HSC1 partners with International Student Services to bring a meal to celebrate Thanksgiving all around the world. Learn more about HSC Cousins and enjoy a free lunch!

First-Year Experience Advisory Board 

First-Year Experience Advisory Board is a group of first and second year HSC students that are selected to represent and voice the needs of new students on the OKC campus. The Advisory Board will represent all 7 Health Colleges, help plan and organize HSC1 events, identify resources, and help promote HSC1 events. 

Applications for the 2016 - 2017 FYE Advisory Board are due Tuesday, September 6, 2016. You must be a first or second year student on the OUHSC Oklahoma City campus to apply. All members must attend at least 3 HSC1 events (dates and times vary). The first FYE Advisory Board meeting will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at noon.
